Kelly and David

This photoshoot is near and dear to my heart. I met Kelly the first year I moved to Denver, so 2018. We worked at Starbucks together and had lots of fun times. One in particular I remember closing together and we took the food left over and different sauces/etc. and made quite the concoction complete with calligraphy from mocha sauce, etc. Pretty sure we took one of the cinnamon rolls they had as a seasonal thing and just went to town. But I have videos of it somewhere and remember laughing so so hard. Good times. We spent a lot of time together with our other friend, Tauvi who also worked with us. The three of us hiked, watched the sunset, took pictures, and just enjoyed so much together as I first got settled in.

Over the years there’s been a natural distancing as we moved around, got different jobs, relationships, etc. but the friendships have remained and for that I am thankful. Kelly recently moved back to Parker, CO which is where I lived the whole time I was out there. For a while she was south a bit and we’d meet up for a lunch or tea but now living in the same city brings new opportunities β—‘Μˆ

Kelly and David have a beautiful story that is theirs to share, but when she reached out to me about booking one of my mini sessions I felt so encouraged and loved. It’s one thing when a stranger compliments your work or books a session, but when friends do out of the kindness of their heart it just hits differently. She sent me some inspiration and Pinterest mood boards so I could get a feel for what they wanted and then we met up! I felt like this session was something different than before. I felt so free to try different prompts, directions, etc. and we had a blast! I’ve not laughed like that during a session in a really long time and it was amazing. At the end of the session we had already gone to our cars after not having much of a sunset (it had rained for an hour before the shoot) when all of the sudden the clouds parted and the most vibrant oranges and yellows shone through. So of course we went back to the fields really quick and got a couple more.

The focus on this was to capture their relationship in a way that felt cinematic and detailed and I’m proud of what we ended with. Kelly and David, thank you! For supporting me, encouraging me, and trusting me with your shoot. You guys blessed me more than you’ll know.

Enjoy :)
